Improving the performance of hydraulic machinery worldwide
Some projects require additional capabilities. Our experienced team here at Webtec heard from a design engineer working on a hydraulic control circuit for oil well safety equipment who wanted the option to place multiple shear valves in series. For ultimate safety and performance he specified a Webtec 180 series 350 bar (5,000 psi) zero-leak rotary shear directional control valve. However, the engineer desired the capability to pressurise the tank (T) line and subsequently feed flow into the pressure line of the next valve in series. Our team of engineers presented two perfectly feasible options: pressurise the T port, which would mean manufacturing a stronger-than-standard valve; or introduce a fifth port with a vent from the top cap that feeds to the tank line separately. The design engineer selected the latter, duly adopting a Webtec-customised 180 series shear valve featuring a pressurised tank port with vented cap. He can now feed the tank line on to the pressure line whenever the requirement arises for shear valves in series.
