Need to specify a hydraulic load-holding valve? Let Webtec’s new online selector do the hard work

Specifying a hydraulic valve with the right combination of features and functions can be a bit of a headache. With thousands of possible configurations, how do you know you've chosen the optimal valve for your application?

Well, that's where Webtec's new online product selector comes in. Designed for our 180/280 series hydraulic load-holding and controlled-release valves, this interactive nine-step tool helps you navigate more than 10,000 possible configurations and arrive at a recommended valve in just a few minutes.

Here at Webtec, we know that choosing a valve involves more than simply selecting a pressure and flow rating. You need to think about the application, operating environment, hydraulic fluid, connections and other details.

Our selector takes you through these requirements step by step. As you make your choices, incompatible options are greyed out, eliminating the risk of choosing an unsuitable configuration. It presents a far easier and quicker approach than working through a seemingly endless list of catalogue options.

You start by specifying your application, whether that's workholding, lifts and jacks, accumulators, emergency actuation systems, or portable hydraulic tools. From there, the selector helps you determine whether our compact aluminium 180 series or stainless steel 280 series is the right fit. If you’re working in a harsh or corrosive environment, the 280 series offers options for demanding marine and offshore applications, as well as water-glycol compatibility and ATEX ratings.

You can then specify flow rate, operating pressure, hydraulic connections, centre condition and handle design. You'll also find additional options, including position-lock arrangements and restricted two-position operation.

Need controlled release? Our proprietary PDP® (Pressure Decay Proof) technology provides zero leakage when closed, while interflow options allow you to regulate the flow aperture as the handle moves. This offers a degree of flow rate 'feathering' for controlling actuator movement or motor speed.

And don't worry about overlooking an important selection. Our new online tool can flag potentially significant choices, such as interflow, and ask you to confirm them before proceeding.

Once you've completed the nine steps, you'll receive an overview of your requirements and a recommended valve. With pressure ratings up to 700 bar (10,000 psi) and flow rates up to 38 lpm (10 gpm), our 180/280 series offers flexibility for demanding hydraulic applications.
